what is the difference between the case and optional fan headers on this motherboard? I am asking because this board has 3 case fan headers, 1 cpu fan header and 1 optional fan header. My case has 4 fans. If I want to control all the fans with fan expert, will I need to get the pro version of the motherboard?
Thank you

what is the exact motherboard model number? /as frustration sets in/

there is a le/lk/lx and a standard just V? if it is the standard V model the the CPU optional at the top is for a duel fan cooler and it will be a PWM fan where the Bios will control the fan speed depending on the CPU temp.

EDIT: in order to control all the fans, each fan would need to connected to a 4 pin header and be PWM fans. Then a program should be able to control the fans the way you want.

My apologies. It is the standard model.

So the optional is for a dual fan cpu cooler. could I still use it for a case fan, or would the control system act strangely
All of the fans in the case are 4 pin.
thanks for your response

You can use it as a case fan header just keep in mind, that one fan will be controlled by the CPU temp just like the main CPU fan is. which ever fan you plug in there will run at the same voltage as the CPU fan. Example: lets say the CPU fan is the same exact fan as the case fan that is plugged into that header. IF the CPU fan speed is 1000 rpm's then the case fan would be 1000 rpm's, if the temp rises and the CPU fan speed goes up so will that case fans speed go up.

The control system should not act strange at all.
