Is the Asus M5A97 compatible with AMD FX8320 without updated BIOS?

The FX8320 is in the supported list but says since BIOS version 1006, will the CPU work without an update to the BIOS?

the R2.0 supports piledriver, without a bios update. it just won't be fully functional till you update the bios. though piledriver isn't on the list of supported out of the box, bulldozer is, and as a result the pc will load, giving you the chance to flash the bios.

That said... most versions out there now come with the bios update preloaded.

All of the processors in the supported list say since version x, so how would you be able to update the BIOS without a processor?
