Problems with gta 4

Hey does anyone know why gta 4 lags so bad on my computer? I have a very high end laptop with an intel i7, 8gb of ram and a 2gb video card. It runs cod and crysis 1 and 2 on ultra with no slowdown at all. I've never had a problem running a game before but gta 4 lags every 3 seconds. Is there anything I can do to improve the performance? Any help would be great.

You have a horrible GPU, and a laptop CPU, that is NOT 8 cores. GTA4 is an absolutely terrible console port. It eats decent desktops, never mind old laptops. Bottom line is GTA 4 just runs like crap. (it's also a horrible boring game, so why bother)
