After watching the game trailer I am left wondering what the minimum card you would have to get to run BF4 Ultra with around 50-60 FPS would be. I will be buying a completely new build at that time and will have enough money for either a 7970 or 9970 or whatever card AMD plans to release in Q3/4 of 2013. I just want to know if you guys think the 7970 will be able to play it at 50 FPS minimum.

The rig they used to show off the BF4 demo used a 7990. so i assume that's the standard for guaranteed to run it maxed. (7990 is 2x 7970s CFX on one board)

That's definitely not true because they were running it at 3k resolution. I'm talking about 1080p here :)

They must have been running it at 30 fps then lol. cause 7990 can't even run BF3 at 60 fps at 3k resolution

oh.

Looks like they had 2x 7990 in CFX in order to run it at 3000x2000 resolution lol.......

Pretty much you'll need at least a 7970 and half to run it in 60 fps maxed at least....

That would still mean he would need way more than a single 7970 and somewhat close to a 7990 to run it 50+ fps maxed...

Barely plays it? My single 7970 completely owns BF3 ultra @ 1080p! :)

EDIT: (Removed boisterous claims) Don't take my word for it, see for yourself!

Nope it will play at 1080p.

I would assume a GTX 780 could handle it, but who knows how much DirectCompute effects and tess+DM is going to be in the game. The shadows don't look like too much to write home about...

My best guess would be to use Medal of Honor: Warfighter and subtract 20%...

What? I have a 7970 and I play BF3 at ultra settings on large maps with 64 players in 1080p. I get smooth frames, never dropping below 60fps, fraps averages out at about 75-95fps. So either you dont own a 7970, or your drivers are way out of date.
Im using a HIS IceQ X² H797QRadeon HD 7970.. not overclocked.
