Hi, I have an MSI Radeon HD 7870 2GB graphics card. About a week ago I noticed low fps in a lot of my games, including Skyrim, Metro 2033, Homefront, Crysis and a few other games which actually have quite low graphics requirements. The funny thing is, I run Crysis 2 at a steady 60fps (probably more if I could find the vertical sync option). I have no idea what's wrong. Is it my drivers? Would reinstalling my drivers fix the problem?
I have already tried uninstalling the drivers which made my screen go black until I restarted my computer (then they reinstalled). I checked that everything in my computer was plugged in properly. Nothing is ever running hot. I maxed out the graphics settings in my Catalyst control centre which made everything run worse, except the games which do work properly, which seem to be unaffected fps-wise. Running the settings on default does make them run a bit better, but at a lower quality.

I have no idea what's wrong. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? How do I fix this?

My specs are:
- i5 3570k @ 4.6GHz
- MSI Radeon HD 7870 2GB
- ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard

Edit: I think I may have found a problem. I don't seem to have directX... I type in dxdiag in the start, and directx, and nothing comes up, it's also not in my installed programs. What do I do?

Did you try to reinstall the driver that came along with your card when you first purchase it? Sometimes new drivers increase the FPS on few games, but make many other titles unstable.

Trying that now, but Steam decided to break at this very second so I can't test if it's working. I'll see if it's fixed when steam finishes updating after I deleted most of the files.

It didn't work. All the same games are playing at the same bad quality and all the others are normal. Same as before. Any other advice?

Did you try to do a complete virus scan? If this also fail to work, then you should really send the card back to the manufacturer.

I may end up sending it back. But why does Crysis 2, the second most graphically intensive game I have run absolutely fine when other games which are obviously of lower quality graphics not work properly?

I even put Metro 2033 on low settings and it lagged while Crysis 2 is having a fun time with ultra graphics and high res textures?

Nope, verifying the game cache for the games fixed Skyrim but not the others. I still don't know what the issue is.
