Hi, I'm just double checking that I've been foolish here. I built my computer 2 years ago on a P8P67 Pro mobo and installed 2x2Gb of corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9. Without checking I ordered 2x2Gb more of the same RAM, the version no. was different but it had the same product number. The second set of RAM was not recognised. After checking the manual I see that this format wasn't supported. Is this correct? Using the Corsair Product checker they recommended CMX8GX3M2A2000C9 but this isn't in the QVL of ASUS? Any help is gratefully appreciated.
Try installing the new memory alone (i.e, 2000MHz memory). Install a single 2GB module and see if it boots (install in slot A2) and then repeat the process with the next 2GB module. Reset the CMOS and update your BIOS before your try the process.
Try to manually set the frequency to 1600MHz or 1866MHz in the BIOS and then try to install the memory together. Hope it works.
Thank you for the reply but I think you misunderstood me. I currently don't have the 2000Mhz memory just two sets of the CMX4GX3M2A1600C9. I will return the set I have just bought as I presume this will not work. However I would like to know if I can trust what the Corsair website says even though ASUS doesn't appear to support it in there QVL lists.
Yeah, it should work as Asus does not get the chance to test all the memory modules that are available in the market. You can always refer the QVL to get the similar memory spec'd module but it is not required to get the same part number memory mentioned in the QVL. I would prefer 1866MHz than 2000MHz for stability. Hope that helps.
P.S - Make sure you have a 64Bit and also check the fastest speed memory your processor supports.
