I recently installed a new power supply and graphics card in my Dell Studio XPS 8100 and when I started my computer up, I received the "No boot device available" message along with a list of SATA connections. What is wrong with my computer and how do I fix it?

You could've reset your settings and the drive with the OS on it is not selected as the boot disk. If so, find the configuration for selecting a primary disk and set the drive that the OS is on.

1) your HD either is not connected,
2) there is no OS on it...
3) or the Boot Sector of the hard drive is corrupted.
4) or the cable from the hard drive to the mb is broken
5) or the SATA/IDE port isn't working
6) or somehow the device is no longer a boot device in the bios
7) or finally the hard drive is broken

-You can repair this problem 1 by turning off your computer, making sure the hard drive is physically connected to the motherboard and plugged in.

-the second problem can be fixed by installing windows

-the third problem can be fixed with booting into the windows install CD, chose to repair an instillation of windows, chose command prompt, type bootrec.exe. - my money is on this being your problem

- try another cable to fix the 4th possibility

- try another port to plug the hd into the mb with in the next

- open your bios and set the boot options, make sure your hard drive with the os is the first boot option

- replace the hard drive
