Hey everyone I have a sapphire hd 7970 which has a reference pcb with a non reference cooler and I would like to know how can I flash the bios from stock to ghz bios.thanks in advance.

Solution
I'd use this one http://legitreviews.com/news/13622/ follow the instructions and you should be fine. As far as the drivers go, they are past 12.7 now, so anything past that should be fine, at the time of the article 12.7 was still in development, I believe it is on 13.4 now. Not sure if having the drivers for your computer would impact the BIOS update, but install latest drivers just to be sure. Hope it works out for ya! Just to reiterate, there is ALWAYS a risk with flashing your vBIOS, there are ways to attempt recovery though sometimes a bad flash is fatal.

On a side note, have you tried OCing manually? There is plenty software out there that can help you OC without a BIOS flash. Maybe I'm not seeing something with the Ghz edition...

Thanks for the quick reply,I visited the link and it said that I will have to install the 12.7 beta drivers so does that mean that I will have to install the drivers first before trying to flash my bios? Also do I use the 1 bios or 2nd one to flash the ghz.thanks again.

I could see it if it was unlocking features not in the standard edition, but I thought Ghz was just a core and mem OC... could be wrong but may be worth a try before attempting the BIOS flash, safer too. Try MSI afterburner see if you can get the desired clock speeds from that

Well I tried overclocking with msi afterburner but even a 5mhz increase in the core clock started giving me artifacts but then I used amd overdrive to overclock and it looks seems stable at 1100/1400.I want to do the bios flash because of the low voltage that comes with it.
Now regarding the link you provided should I just run the exe file and it'll be done?
thanks again man much appreciated.

Well it seems that the ghz bios might not be for my card as I used the exe on the 1st as well as the 2nd bios with no luck and then I tried a different method to flash the bios still no luck, looks like I'll have to make do with overclocking without the ghz bios.
