As far as the drivers go, they are past 12.7 now, so anything past that should be fine, at the time of the article 12.7 was still in development, I believe it is on 13.4 now. Not sure if having the drivers for your computer would impact the BIOS update, but install latest drivers just to be sure. Hope it works out for ya! Just to reiterate, there is ALWAYS a risk with flashing your vBIOS, there are ways to attempt recovery though sometimes a bad flash is fatal.
On a side note, have you tried OCing manually? There is plenty software out there that can help you OC without a BIOS flash. Maybe I'm not seeing something with the Ghz edition BIOS. I could see it if it was unlocking features not in the standard edition, but I thought Ghz was just a core and mem OC... could be wrong but may be worth a try before attempting the BIOS flash, safer too. Try MSI afterburner see if you can get the desired clock speeds from that
