Which thermal compound is better?

They're both good. For practical use, I wouldn't expect any distinguishable difference. If you have both tubes sitting around I'd say use the fresher/newer of the two.

In my case, it was the tube that came with my Phanteks cooler.

arctic silver 5 isnt as good as before. Other companies have come up with better compounds that aren't conductive. Its still a good compound though. I currently have it on my build and its running cool. Thing is i got the tube for like $2

Arctic Silver 5 is just a good as when it was initially introduced; unless the formula was changed. However, there are some newer and better thermal paste out there now. AS5 still does a very good job and it is relatively inexpensive.
