My friend is building a computer, and I built one last year, we have decided on the case, and the OS.
Please give suggestions, include the monitor too please. I am mostly focused on the motherboard right now as I will do more research on the Haswell CPUs and 700 series later.
Thanks.
Current build ideas
Case: HAF 912
OS: windows 7 home premium
CPU: Haswell? Depends on release date.
GPU: 770 or 780
Monitor:???
PSU: Recommendations please!
Cooler: ??? CM 212 EVO??
If there are other parts I forgot please include them.
Thanks again guys! You guys were really helpful when I built last year so I hope for some great replies again!
NOTE: Add in RAM and Hard Drive Prices as well!

You have a $1600 budget, you could get a WAY better case than a HAF 912. Paying $50 for a case on a $1600 budget is a definite no no. Here's what I would suggest:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($224.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 37.9 CFM CPU Cooler ($60.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($0.00 @ NCIX US)
Memory: Mushkin Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: OCZ Vector Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($128.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($415.66 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Titanium Grey) ATX Mid Tower Case ($134.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($75.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($14.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1290.54
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Then with the difference add a nice 1440P display.

Like I said, case is ordered, and it works fine for me with plenty of room.
My friend is doing 1080p, SSD isn't necessary really, and your motherboard doesn't have a price? thanks for suggestions though, but I can't change his case or OS now.

And with the difference would you recommend a 780? I really do appreciate your input, but my friend isn't very nitpicky and is fine with 1080p and HAF 912.

That mobo is like $130. If your in America see if you have a Microcenter nearby, they have a deal on CPU/MOBO bundle same ones as above for way cheaper.
For monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007617+50001315+600030155+600060968+600030956+600012697&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=20&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc= .. I have the 23inch version

OH and since its only 1080p stick with the 770

Yeah, I know that deal, I did it with the 2500k and my mobo, that was the plan from the start. Since there'll be extra, why only 770?

Just like the 670 and 680, the differences between the 770 and 780 are too minute to notice. It isn't worth the extra money for that if that's what you are asking.
