I've recently bought a pair of speakers for an insane deal and they're great (Here if you are interested). I am unable to use my back audio ports, however and I am not sure how to fix it.

Sound card - Asus sonar essence stx
Motherboard- Asus p9x79 pro

If you have any clues as to how I can fix it, please post away.

I'm afraid I can't remove the sound card right now (tornado warning for my city right now), but I do believe I tried this at one point; I've had this issue from the start. I've also tried all the ports. Is there any other way to troubleshoot this?

No I have not, but I do have Windows 7. How do I switch it? I am in the menu but do not see any options for switching it, how do I do so?

After re-reading this post, I don't know that it will help you but, just right mouse click the device you want and in the menu you will see "set as default communication device" or something like that. Click it and you will then see a green check mark next to it I believe.
