Buy Now or Haswell?

I know the answer seems like an obvious wait, but I'm having a really tough time deciding here.

My friend wants to start ordering/building within the next week. Micro center is currently selling the 3570k for $170, plus $40 off a motherboard. Normally it's $190 and $40 off, and this current deal ends Sunday...

Now, has a specific date been confirmed for Haswell? All I've heard and read is early June. Also, from what I've seen, it's only 10% performance increase. My friend has already purchased a 7870XT. I figure with a mid-range GPU like that, the GPU will always be the limiting factor, so the 10% doesn't really matter.

Also, Microcenter may not even do the deal with Haswell right away, and my friend doesn't want to wait.

Might be plus/minus a day or two. It'll almost certainly be released at Computex in Taipei. Most likely on Monday - which means Sunday in the US.

you're really that concerned about a $30 price difference? spend 170 on something that will be obsolete in a week or 200 on brand new technology. the answer is clear to me.

get the 3570k and OC it, not like 4670k ganna be a big boost jump, only by probably 10% or so faster.

We just got back from Microcenter. Got a 3570k, MSI Z77A-G41, and 8GB of Crucial Balistix 1600mhz RAM, for $317 after tax and rebates.

Even if they have bundle deals the first day Haswell releases, and that's if, it won't be cheaper than $189 for the CPU. That's an additional $20, all for 6-7%, 10% tops performance gain. And what if they take a month to start offering bundles. My friend has no computer, so waiting isn't really an option.

Besides, he's running a 7870XT. The CPU being 10% slower won't make a difference IMO.

get a heatsink and OC it hardcore lol.. 4.7GHz would be my target but 4.4GHz is actually an more ideal OC but 4.2GHz is an average OC for most user

Seriously? of course it'll perform better. It's newer and it's design to surpass the previous generation otherwise what's the point of releasing it. Haswell is the fourth generation which should most likely surpass it younger brother.
