First of all, I don't care if my equipment is up to date as long as it performs well. So today I bought an i7-3770k for $230 (I will pick it up tomorrow). I was wondering if I got it for a good deal. Also, I know that the 3770k is outdated now but is it still considered a good processor? Also is the stock fan good? I will just be using it for gaming and using programs like Sony Vegas. I will not be overclocking. So is the stock fan good? Thanks.

- As of today, the i7-3770K is the single most modern processor on the market. That situation will change in a few days times on June 3rd. However, even after June 3rd, Ivy Bridge will still be a very capable platform.

- Yes, 230$ is a good price for that CPU.

- You chose a good platform for your uses. Keep in mind, some games take a performance hit when using HyperThreading. Turning it off in such games would be a good decision.

- The stock cooler is fine if you are not OCing.
