Could use some help on making a decision on a new GPU

Hello community. I am in trouble... i cant decide (well i dont have enough knowledge tbh) which gpu is the best for the gaming rig im building.

i am not a fanboy, i want to be able to play any games thrown at me at the best possible way. My budget for a GPU can get up to 750$(~700euros).

My max resolution is 1920x1080 @ 75hz.

Cpu is intel core i5 3570k. Dunno if you need any more information , but feel free to ask.

Oh! Also my PSU is gonna be corsair TX750w.

GTX 770 if you don't plan on overclocking, HD 7970 if you do plan on overclocking.

im not planning on overclocking , but if its needed i might add a second gpu later on (sli or crossfire depending on which gpu im gonna end up buying)

Go with the 770 then. It isn't worth investing an additional 62.5% to pickup a GTX 780 to gain ~15% better performance. Also, when are you planning on purchasing the card? You may be better off waiting on the GTX 760 Ti.

a question tho... what about the 2GB memory? isnt this gonna be a problem in the future? Lets say... with the arrival of the new consoles (xbox juan and ps4) their games are gonna get better , i guess same thing is gonna happen for PCs... Will i still be good to go with the 770? even if cant insta get the 2nd gpu to get the sli going?

I guess im gonna get the gpu this week (monday-friday)

P.S - You might want to get 4 GB variant of GTX 770 if you are opting for it. It is based on same Keplar architecture of GTX 680.

lucky i dont own the tx750w yet... i just thought it would be fine for a single gpu (gtx 680-hd 7970-gtx 780 etc)
mmmm non of the shops in my country is shipping EVGA tho... that could be a problem since im not fond of owning credit cards. i use cash:/
Any other 680 manufacturer that you consider good enough?

Why would you recommend the higher priced EVGA GTX 680 when the GTX 770 is basically a overclocked GTX 680 at a lower price?

is that so? cuz just now i was checking some benchmarks and 770 seems to fall behind in fps in all the main games (crysis:warhead 53.5 to the 36.4 of 770 , bf3 119.6 to the 85.7 of 770) im gonna head to youtube now and see full benchmarks

Actually I was doing a lot of research for GTX 680 which took some time in between a lot of comments occurred here, so I basically edited mine and removed GTX 680 part.

I don't want to say much here, but just that since 770 is based on 680's architecture and is in fact an overclocked one (they also raised bandwidth from 6 Gbps to 7 Gbps) it might be a better choice.

Still, both GPUs would give different benchmarks for different games.

also ... the benchmark i saw previously was bull i guess. just saw that vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=959sMWdvpg0 and it seems like 770 is the better choice (between 680-770).

But as I said earlier, different games would give different benchmarks for same cards. That could get confusing if both are very close.
Here, in some games GTX 680 is better, while in the other GTX 770 is.

But since GTX 770 is much cheaper, I too would recommend it now. Actually at that time I didn't read its review.

I would recommend the Galaxy, MSI, or Asus versions of the GTX 770.

Their cooler fans are pretty flimsy and their cards are usually in the middle of the pack on both performance and cooling. Since there isn't much difference in overclock potential of the 770s, I like to pickup cards that provide the best cooling solution and lowest noise levels.
