GTX 770 pin connectors question

Hi,

The GTX 770 I am looking to buy has slots for 1x 8pin PCIe power connector and 1x 6pin PCIe power connector.

Does this mean that both of those connectors have to be supplied for the card to work, or will it run on just the one out of the two?

My PSU only has 2 x 6pin PCIe connectors, and also many of the new PSUS on the market only have the 8pin PCIe connectors (they label them as 2+6 pin connectors), so I don't understand why the 770 has the two different pin connector requirements?

Many thanks for any replies.

Solution
You will need both connected. Because a 6+2 pin has a set of (2) pins off on the side to plug in to make an 8 pin. So you would need t plug in 1 of the 6 pins in the 6 pin slot and one of the 6+2 pin into the 8 pin slot.

I know, the question was already answered when I posted. I just thought I would add that the connectors come with the card to help out. You might have realised that if you were not too busy trying to be a smart ass :)

I wasn't trying to be a smart ass if you have been on toms and other forums which it looks like you have you will notice that sometimes there are several answers and after a bit it starts to veer away from the original question.
I was just stating that the answer to the original question was yes you need both connectors.
