I have a Dell optiplex 760 with onboard graphics, 1 pci-e, 1agp, and 2 pci slots. What's the best way to add tv capability and speed up the video? Am I stuck with an all-in-one or do I go graphics card in pci-e and tuner card in one of the other slots? Or a tuner in pci_e and an agp video card? Any suggestions? Need more knowledge! Appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks!

You're right. I don't know why I transposed the configuration with a gateway I have. The computer is a desktop with just 1 pci-e and 2 pci slots. The power supply is standard Dell 255w and the processor is 65w E8400 @ 3Ghz and 4g (2x2) memory. The video source will be a DircetTV box. Thanks

Hauppauge Colossus

Unfortunately, satellite TV subscriptions do not play well with TV Tuner cards. Your best bet would be to take an HD (HDMI) output from your Satellite box and plug it into a video capture card like the Hauppauge Colossus. It's an ugly work around, but unfortunately, for satellite subscribers, the only one available.

Your set top box will still act as the TV tuner. You will need to program it to change channels when a program you wish to record starts. The Hauppauge Colossus should handle the rest.
