So this will be my first build, I will probably buy within the next month. Budget is $1000, which my tentative build below exceeds a bit. I want to be ready for next-gen games, but I wouldn't mind packing a bit of an extra punch either. I don't really feel the need to overclock, but then again I know close to nothing. I plan to hook this up to my 42" 1080p TV, don't laugh. I also need on optical audio out on the motherboard. So how bad is it? I live in the US.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H ATX LGA1155
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: Galaxy GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card
Case: Rosewill THOR V2 ATX Full Tower Case
PS: Rosewill Capstone 650W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Update: Thanks for the feedback guys. I like GOM3RPLY3R and rex's idea for the cheaper mobo since it still has all the ports I need. On a related note, I was under the impression that I would not need a CPU cooler if I'm not overclocking, is that generally true? I wasn't planning to OC.

Everything in there is fantastic. Only thing to keep in mind:

1. If your keeping this for a while, you may want to get a 3570k, so you can overclock and get better performance for when it starts to lose its power to more demanding games.

2. You forgot to add a cpu cooler. I'd recommend the Cooler Master HYPER 212 Evo. Its $37 off of newegg, but it has kick-ass cooling performance. You can probably get a 3570k up to 4.2 or 4.3 before it starts to go a little overboard. Plus for the price, its a great fan.

Other than that, you made a great build. ^_^

UPDATE: I found a cheaper Mobo saving you $50 with 2 PCI-E 3.0 slots if you want to do SLI in the future:

ASUS P8Z77-V LK

Yea, you have a decision to make...

If you dont plan on overclocking -- keep the 3570 and downgrade the MB from a Z77
If you want to overclock -- keep the Z77 and upgrade to the 3570k

The config you have now is not necessary; 3570 cant be overclocked, and the Z77 is for overclocking
