hey,

Should I get the asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 130,-
or should I save 30,- and go for the gigabyte ga990xa ud3 97,-

I wanted the asus board because then I'm sure I have solid board capable of oc'ng. Want some information of the gigabyte one. Is it solid an can it oc?

Will pair it with a fx 8320.

Solution

Yes the gigabyte one will be a solid board, go for it :)

The ASUS M5A99FX PRO is the better choice:
> overclocks better
> has 1 more SATA III port
> has 1 more PCIe x16 slot (4 in total supports x16, x16, x4, x4)

The gigabyte board is not a bad board, its pretty decent. Depends on your needs, if you dont need the extra ports go with the gigabyte one, but my favorite is ASUS.

I'm not going for sli and crossfire because of the microstutter when I upgrade It's most likely a single gpu or a whole new system. My goal on the fx 8320 is 4.5ghz and I'm happy. Because of my budget I have one 1tb 7200 hdd and will get a ssd in the future so I don't need that many ports.
I want to know if the gigabyte board is as solid as the asus one and I want to get the fx 8320 at atleast 4ghz.
So wich one should I get?

If you're goal is 4.4ghz the gigabyte board is fine. I'm not sure how stable the board will be beyond 4.4GHz. Some have stated its not possible to get past that on the ga970xa(stable). If you wanna go higher, 4.4-4.5ghz the asus one is better. Note the 8320 already has a pretty good 4.0ghz boost.
Important to consider is a good power supply when OCing the FX processors!

I'm going for the Sea Sonic S12II-620 Bronze. And you mean there's already a great performance boost when getting it at 4ghz, right?
How solid is the gigabyte ga990xa ud3?
How far can the asus one (approximately) oc?

Well the gigabyte 990xa ud3 can go to a stable overclock of 4.6ghz ON AIR and 4.9GHz ON LIQUID cooler. The ASUS M5A99FX PRO r2.0 will stop at 4.6GHz. For awesome OC, the GA-990FXA-UD3 will be your best bet(between that one and the asus one)

Alright, I'm going to use the cooler master hyper 212 evo and I'm not a diehard oc'er I think 4,2 or 4,3 is enough for me. I'm upgrading to steamroller in the future. Do you think the gigabyte will last me as long as the asus board and will it remain stable over time?

Stick with the gigabyte one for better OC, for the rest there are no other major differences

The Gigabyte one is fairly cheaper aswell isn't it? So you're getting a pretty good value too.
