My games are laggy despite high fps.

For around 2 weeks now, I have had the problem; in all of my games, I have been experiencing some kind of lag. The camera in my games is studdering and jumpy. I notice this the most in Dota 2 and HoN. I can run both of these games at 60+ fps constant, yet I still have this "lag". It is always worse in the spawn where there is more things to render, but I do not see why it would make a difference because I am getting high fps. I also play Team Fortress 2, and the performance in that is not what I would expect either.

Incase you need to know, my build is:

GPU: GeForce GTX 560Ti (Direct CU II)
CPU: Intel Core I3 3220 3.30Ghz
PSU: Corsair CX600
MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V LX
HDD: Western Digital 320GB
RAM: Kingston HyperX (4gb) and Kingston HyperX Genisis (4gb)
Case: Corsair Carbide 200r

Any help would be appriciated, thank you. (I was nto sure where to put this so I put it in videogames.)

I am getting from 40 to 80 in all of my games, I don't know too much about ping so I am not sure if this is good of not. (Thank you for replying :)

Also, I get the problem when I play simnle play bot matches as well, so I don't think it is my connection. Thank you any way though. I hope some one can resolve this for me though.

I just had a quick look and it was all to do with crossfire/sli. I just want to add that it has not always been like this, it used to run everything smooth without a hitch. Thanks for the reply though!

hmm, your ping is good. your fps is good. Only thing left would be if there is some sort of issue with your monitor not refreshing properly.

What monitor do you have?

Also run something like 3d mark and report back if you see any artifacting (things that see like they shouldn't be there)

I have an ASUS VE247H, the monitor is quite new, but I have had normal performance after buying it. I did think that it might be caused my hard drive, what do you think?

HHDs either work or they don't. There is very little/no middle room, where they work at a lower performance. With this said, a hard drive shouldn't really effect you in this way. If you still want to check, put your game on a flash drive and run it off that and see if it changes anything.

Also if you have any other monitors, can you try them to see if it changes anything?

just need to narrow down the possibilities :)

Yes, I do have a 4:3 monitor with me now! I will try it and get back to you.

Ok, I have plugged in the other monitor and no difference! I was getting my hopes up. :)
Do you have any other ideas?

Sorry I did not see that last bit. I just ran Heaven benchmark and everything was fine, no artifacts. I do want to mention, I have overclocked my GPU with Msi Afterburner, but have undone the Overclock.

Then the most likely thing, to the best of my knowledge, to be cause this is the monitor. Either the cable, the port, the pcb in the monitor or the panel itself.

oh didn't see your post.

Did you use the same cable or another one?
Also do you have the latest drivers for your gpu?

Honestly, cant really think of anything else that would all of a sudden start lagging, when it was working fine before.

RAM and mobo issues would be a LONG shot. highly doubt it.

I used the same power cable, but I used a different DVI cable. Would re-installing direct X/ Nvidea Drivers be worth a shot?

One thing, if it is my monitor, why is the problem worse in busy areas. (Spawn, Large Battles, lots of players) I am trying to think of things I have changed. The ONLY think that has recently changed is I got a new internet provider, but I don't see why that would affect singleplayer. I did install Battlefield 3, that is the last BIG this I remember doing since this problem from hell started. This is so anoying, my system is not even 4 months old, and already gone wrong. Sigh, hopefully this will be resolved. Thankyou for sticking around for so long!

well. You could to try to use the windows restore feature to restore your computer to a time where it worked fine.
This will show if it is a software issue, cause I can't see it being any hardware after all the tests.

If you dont have the auto backup set/dont have any backups, you could always try to fresh install windows. Yes, its a lot of work, but there really isn't anything else I can think of doing.

Good news! I just tried turing Vsync on in Dota 2, and guess what? Smooth! It is very strange though. With Vsync I get 60 and it is as smooth as butter, but without I get 80-120 and it is unplayably choppy! Do you know why this could be happening? I ask because with Vsync on, my ccamera controls feel more clunkey and hard to use. I feel like such an idiot only trying vsync now, but it was just not something I thaught about! Buy, I was fine without it before. Sorry for only checking it now, but as I said, why is vsync helping?

I know, buy why is the vsync 60fps smoother than the normal 80-120fps? And why did I used to not have this problem. I don't like using vsync because it creates very bad input lag.
