So my computer was running perfectly fine one day and the next day a few minutes after boot up my computer begins going extremely slow and my CPU shoots up way high. Then it soon shut down. I then realized the CPU fan was not working so I bought a new one and replaced it, as well I took off ,y water cooler and cleaned off/applied new thermal compound. Then booted up my computer again, everything was going fine then the same thing happened, CPU up and computer shuts down. I loaded up the computer a few hours after just to get the Temperature and it showed 100C. Is it possible my cooling system broke or would it be something else?

Specs
Intel I7 3820 3.6 GHZ 10M LGA
Corsair Hydro Series H60 120MM Liquid Cooling
Blade Master 120MM
Xtremegear 800 watt power supply
Asus P9X79 Intel X79 Quad Crossfire
Coolermaster Haf-XM Mid Tower

If there is any other thing you want to know just ask, as I'm just trying to figure out how to get my computer running properly again.

Solution
me using the Stock Intel fan and my CPU's never gone beyond 75-76 ever (that too only during video encoding)....so most probably the cooler is faulty

No longer have the stock cooler and I did clean off the old paste when applying the new. do you suggest a new cooling system? If so, what do you suggest preferably less then $100/150.

When I first turn it on it is around 79C, but if I leave in on for around 10 min it will reach upper 80. If I do anything such as loading Google Chrome or a game or something like that it shoots up to 100C in the first few minutes.

That's what I thought, just making sure it couldn't have been something else before I went out and bought a new one. Any personal suggestions for a new one?
