Here is what I am currently looking at, but it has been a long time since I've done something like this so there are three questions I have.
1) Is everything compatible?
2) Will it be somewhat future-proof?
3) Is there anything that I should wait for coming out soon that will make my rig seem outdated?

Yes, all is compatible. If you need wireless internet rather than the on-board Ethernet, you may want to consider an adapter with an extendable antenna if the PC will sit in a bad location for signal strength.

As to future-proof, that is up to how important it is that you have the next big thing. As long as the system games good for you, there's no real necessity to re-build. You can always upgrade the gfx card when games outpace the HD 7870... which won't be for awhile if you game at the most common 1920x1080 resolution.

I would swap out the graphics card for a sapphire, asus, msi, or gigabyte custom cooler. The one you listed is the worst one available, and should only be considered in a tight budget situation. Other cooling solutions will give you much better temps.

Looks fine. But you went a bit backwards on your choice of gfx card.

I would stay with the HD 7870... or go with a GTX 660/660ti if you want to go Nvidia.

What resolution is your monitor? The GTX 560 is a marginal for maxing out today's games at 1080p. And it will generate more heat and use more power than the HD 7870.
