Hi all,
I'm in the process of building my first gaming pc and have a roughly $1,500-1,700 budget for parts not including a monitor. The goal for this would be to run most games at max settings on a 27" 2560x1440 monitor.
I want to stick with a single video card for now with the possibility of SLI later, thus the 850W PSU. Not tech savvy enough to deal with any SLI/CF issues that may come up at the moment.
Overclocking is also a maybe, so I want the option to do it.
I would assume many of these parts could be swapped for something cheaper with the same performance, but maybe not!
I used the i7-3770k over the 3570k as it's not much more expensive at Microcenter. That being said, would a new Haswell be a better option?
I will be purchasing everything in 3-4 weeks so no rush on building right this second, can wait for the Haswell reviews to roll in.
Here is the build:
CPU Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $230.00 (Microcenter pickup)
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing $22.98
Motherboard ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 $129.98
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 $62.10
Storage Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" SSD $184.99
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB $659.99
Wireless Network Adapter Linksys WMP600N 802.11a/b/g/n PCI $42.70
Case Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower $88.00
Power Supply XFX 850W ATX12V / EPS12V $119.99
Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer $18.49
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) $89.94
Monitor Asus PB278Q 27.0" $599.99
Total $2250
Any suggestions?
Thanks all!
