Have been reading up for the last month after deciding to build my own game rig and an unexplained fire would be nice to avoid haha. I'll be playing at 1920x1200 and looking to upgrade in the near future to a possible 4k monitor. I tried putting together something that will support my future needs so I am not looking at abysmal FPS when I move up to 4K. Any suggestions for improvement are welcomed.

Mobo: Gigabyte GA -Z77 / ATX / 1600MHz / DDR3 / LGA 1155
CPU : i7-3770K 3.5GHz / 8 MB Cache / LGA 1155
GPU : GTX 780 (Thinking about SLI as well for when I upgrade to 4K monitor)
RAM : 16 GB Crucial Ballistix / DDR3 / 1600MHz (I realize its overkill at this time)
PSU : Kingwin ABT-1000MA1S / 1000 Wattage

I was overwhelmed by the amount of hardware available to choose from, so not sure if there are better choices for what I am going for. Was hoping to continue my learnings into overclocking as well once the system is built.

The one thing that left me stumped was the power supply if I SLI 780's. The wattage req. is 600 just for one card and the largest PSU i found was 1200. Am I missing something about how SLI works?

if this is only a gaming rig than get a i5-3570k or even a i5-4670k for gaming 8gb is more than enough and u could always add more later
also u don't need a 1200 watts psu for gtx 780 sli a good 800 or even a 750 watts psu would be more than enough

i know choosing components can be very overwhelming but if u know ur budget it becomes a bit easy

ASUS has announced an entry 4k screen, so i would expect to own one within a couple of years. I may just end up going with a 3 monitor set up as opposed to waiting for a 4k, so a bit undecided on that front. Changing over to a Corsair PSU sounds like a great idea though, seeing as I recognize the brand as quality haha.

Awesome article on power usage! Puts my mind at ease. I guess the recommended wattage I saw listed was a cautionary suggestion.

My full budget for the comp can go up to $3,000. I am currently sitting just under $2000 with the case, windows 8 etc. thrown in.
