I am in the process of building a new system. I am using an Intel I7-3770k CPU and an Asus P8Z77-V LE Plus LGA 1155 Intel Z77 motherboard. I was getting ready to install the CPU and cooler and when I started to remove the motherboard from the packaging I noticed the plastic CPU Socket cover was loose in the packaging and not attached to the CPU Socket and covering it. I immediately looked at the CPU Socket to determine if there were any problems and I noticed that some of the pins seemed out of place. Admittedly they are so small that I can't tell for certain if they are bent or if there is a problem. I took a couple of pictures of what saw.
This may sound like a silly question, but how do I tell if the pins are actually bent? Does this make the motherboard unusable? Should I return the motherboard to Asus for a replacement? I am trying to be very cautious and I don't want to attempt to install the CPU if it might damage it or the motherboard.
