1155 socket vs 1150

Hi I will be building my new pc in the next couple months, and want to get an i5 3570k. People keep saying that the new 1150 motherboards will be expensive. My question is if I stick with an i5 3570k instead of going with an 1150 , will 1155 motherboards and processors still be readily available?

More about 1155 socket 1150
  1. They'll still be readily available for several more months at the very least, most likely until Broadwell comes out.
  2. 1155 will still be available this year and beyond. A benefit to buying a 1155 board is that they are tested and modified to perfection. 1150 is new and might have some things to improve.

The i5-3570k should sell about $20 (on average) cheaper than the i5-4670k. If you can buy from microcenter then do so too. You'll get awesome deals on motherboard + CPU.

Also, the 3570k will last and be competitive for all gaming for at least 3 years.

Side note, Intel is thinking about fixing CPUs to the boards, so the days of upgrading CPU with same motherboard could be over.

Wont be happening for the foreseeable future. Intel stated as such.

So is the 1150 worth the 15% improvment

No, it's not worth the 4-6% improvement.

If you wait until July 4, 2014, you can get an i5-4690k from Microcenter for only $10 more than the 3570k and it's still the 1150 socket you're looking for. Pair this CPU with a decent z97 and you'll be ready to go.
