Hi

My Radeon X1200 is causing an error problem with the editing software I am using - once the software launches and gets to "initialising OpenGL effects" I get an "access violation" warning that I can click past and fully launch my editing package. - I am using the SVGA and DVI outputs of the Radeon OnChipVGA

I think I have tracked the error message down by turning off the windows hardware accelerator but in doing that my editing software will not fully function.

Sorry to ask what might be a silly question but, could the catalyst manager be conflicting with windows control of the Hardware Accelerator/s ?

ATI Catalyst control centre software manager v 2010 0210 2339 42455
driver version 8.593 100.0 - I rolled back the driver version to 8.591 which did not solve it. so I am back with 8.593.100.0

There seems to b quite a lot of controls within the catalyst manager so I am wondering whether somebody might be able to point me in the right direction

I am running windows XP Pro, SP 3 with 3.25 RAM available to windows

Thanks for looking.

I received an email 5/6/2013 suggesting that my post had been answered - but nothing is here ?? could the Administrator look at this as it has taken me quite a while to find this page to actually see that nothing has been posted.

Thank you

Hi, if this was working for you before but suddenly stopped:

Uninstall your video drivers and catalyst centre.

Revert any changes you made to hardware accelleration.

Download latest driver software
Download latest catalyst software

Thanks -

The answer has just suddenly appeared ?? very strange

This was the first time I set up my editing system with the onboard so I never tried it before - I did try to roll back the Radeon driver to see if an earlier driver version would solve the error messages on launch but it solved nothing.

If I turn off hardware accelerator completely the errors go - but then obviously I can not use my editing package.

It could be that I might just have to live with the errors ? - my thought was that catalyst might be grabbing hold of H A as well as windows ? but that was really a shot in the dark on my part and not based on any real understanding of why I get the error messages

I seem not to be on the latest driver version ?? although the control centre reports that I am ? any help with that query would be very useful
