My Asus tablet sees my router and attempts to "authenticate" but never gets the job done. It tells me there is an "authentication problem". I have turned off my firewall and lowered my security level but nothing helps. Also, my router's signal strength is intermittent. Sometimes it is nice and strong and sometimes it is practically nothing. It is less than 6 months old.

Not to be obvious but the most common cause is people keep forgetting to press the connect button on the router at the same time as the one on the mobile device... did you remember that?

I went to the settings menu and pressed Wi-Fi, turned it on, then the menu came up for me to enter my LAN name, which is "good-dx". I entered my password, then pressed the "connect" button. The tablet then tries to "authenticate" for several minutes then says "authentication problem", and sits there and does nothing else.

Any words I typed in quotes means that it is the titile of the button I pushed. As I am typing this, my tablet is still trying to authenticate. Still no Internet connection.

ok first off, LOOK AT YOUR ROUTER, are there any buttons on it labelled "1" and "2" or "pair mode" if there is you need to press them either just before, or while your tablet is trying to authenticate.

Failing that, what is the router make and model? (should be on a sticker on the box)

There are no buttons anywhere on the surface except a reset hole where you would poke a pin into. That is on the back of the unit. The brand name of the router is UBIQUITI Air Router. Mac ID: 1227G dc9fdb022982 802.11N. I have never heard of the above brand. I got it from my ISP tech.

intermittent connection seems to be a common problem with that brand, can you connect to it with other devices via wired or wireless connections?

Yes, I have 2 desktop computers and a laptop, but connections are intermittent. I thnk I will go ahead and get a better router. I am thinking about getting a Linksys EA6300 for $139.00 from New Egg.com. Are those any good? There was only one review written about it and it was very favorable.
