I have a HP Pavilion laptop. My Drive :E, the DVD drive doesn't show up in "computer". I have deleted the upper and lower filters, re installed the TSSC DVD driver, tried VTC media player and nothing works. I am using win 7 and have the problem with or with a disk in drive.

Is this with or without a disk in it? And what OS?

My Win8Pro does not show the DVD drive letter unless there is an actual disk in it.

1) Question does it show up as a Drive in BIOS? And can you boot to a CD/DVD?

.. If the answer to above is NO, then problem is NOT with windows 7. What I would try is reseating the Sata Connector at the back of the drive. Note For laptop normally there is one screw on the back that holds it in-place, Non't see the screen, check inside the compartment that has the Ram modules. Still No Luck, google How to replace DVD drive in HP Pavilion laptop.

.. If Bios does Show drive and you can boot to a DVD then problem is in Windows.
