Currently I am about to build an computer. I already have a crucial 8gb ram stick. I am wondering if I could buy an ssd for cache or buy a 4gb ram stick. What would be faster? I play battlefield 3 and Crysis 3 but I want the overall computer to be fast, not just for games

Actually, as of now I would suggest you to skip SSD. All it does it to boot windows in 10 seconds instead of regular 30 seconds. Rest of the difference isn't noticeable in day to day usage.

I too haven't got SSD yet and I have 500 GB HDD only.

Just get a 500 GB HDD and when you would have more money later on, you can buy a good SSD .. After a month or two? PCs can always be upgraded .. :)
Invest in SSD.
Try to get at least 128 GB of SSD because your RAM is more than enough to play all modern games at high settings.

Investing in SSD and keeping it as primary booting drive would speed up your windows booting to very high speeds (even as less as 10 seconds from start to desktop).

RAMDisk is just for benchmarks. It is nearly useless in real life usage.

Get at least 64 GB SSD mate, otherwise it is of no use as you won't be able to keep your windows and program files and other important software in there.

SSD can not be combined with RAMDisk.
