amd crossfire question?

hi , i have two hd 5670's in crossfire. and i play with crossfire disabled on most games because they almost always have issues when i turn crossfire on. so my question is, is the second card completely inactive when i play with crossfire disabled? Catalyst control center shows its activity at 0%. does that mean im only getting the performance i would get with 1 card even though i have another 1 but im playing with crossfire disabled.
sorry if the wording is not so good. english is not my first language haha

Well, Crossfire = 2 GPUs working at the same time to deliver almost double performance.

Crossfire disabled = A single GPU working like 2nd GPU was never present there. :)
If you disable crossfire, the other GPU won't work at all and would be dead until you turn it on.

oh well thats a shame. i have to wait until most games release an update that patches crossfire support. thats the only downside to pc gaming eh, all games are optimized for console and pcs just get a crappy port :( . i got a 7850 to replace these 5670's. hopefully it'll get great drivers since both next gen xbox and ps are using a amd chip thats similiar to a 7850 :D
  3. HD 7850 is an awesome card! Driver update would grant it even more FPS as they would get better.

You made a good choice! :)
