I am looking at building a new computer and looking at amd graphics cards for the price. The current one i am looking at is the Radeon HD 7770 GHz and was waning to know if it is good for gaming. the main games i will be playing is guild wars 2, and planitside two. will probably be trying out the ne final fantisy when it comes out if it is good going with it.

The 7770 is a great card for the entry level. I used to have one when I played GW2 and I had no problem running it with most settings maxed out(might have turned down something here and there, but nothing significant). Now for PS2 you might have trouble getting playable fps and need to turn down the settings. If you can then, I would get the HD 7790 for some more performance yet staying around the same price(it'll probably be $20-$30 extra).

That sounds like some good info. what about using crossfire. for the 7790.

You can only 2-way X-Fire the 7790 and it has to be with another 7790.

Edit: I usually prefer single GPU cards because there is some latency problems that arise with x-firing. Also not all games benefit from x-fire/sli so those games will only use 1 gpu's power. If you have a budget of 2 7790's, then I'd suggest getting a 7870 XT/Myst. It's a $200-$250 card with a performance of a $300 660ti and 7950.

could a single 7790 max guild wars 2 and do ok with planit side 2?

A single 7790 should be able to max GW2(don't hold me to that), where as PS2 it may be able to do okay with some of the settings toned down. I've played some of PS2 and I know that it is indeed a demanding game but one of settings can be changed in the config file to reduce the map render distance, that should get your fps higher than if it was set to default. Like I said, you might not be able to max out PS2, but it should be playable(big teamfights might be a problem though)

A 7870 is a much better card and you will be perfectly fine with it being able to play GW2 maxed and PS2 at good fps. What exactly is your budget and country? I may be able to find a 7870 XT/MYST card ,that is better than a normal 7870 due to it using the 7950 architecture, in your budget.

Alright, I found some 7870's with the Tahiti architecture that fits your budget:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Powercolor 7870 MYST

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Powercolor 7870 EZ

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-7870XT2 Sapphire 7870 XT

All these cards have the almost the same performance as a 7950/660ti. With a little OC it can match them and beat them. The difference between the MYST and EZ cards is that the MYST has a metal shroud whereas the EZ has a plastic one. Also from what I hear the EZ has a better fan(not 100% sure).

Honestly I'd go for the Sapphire XT because it's dual fan cooling design is much better than the MYST and EZ. Also Sapphire is a much better company, probably #1 for AMD Gpu's(IMO).

I can't really help you with what AMD CPU is great for you, all I can say is that I had an AMD Phenom II x4 945 and that was great for me at the time. I've now moved onto intel, so I'm pretty sure other members on this site can help you with that. You should post that question on the CPU section of this site.

EDIT: Also these all come with free game codes, so if you don't want them, you can sell those and technically get the GPU for even cheaper.
