Since the room that the router/phone line was in is getting redecorated, we moved the router into a upstairs room. But since doing this it has slowed the connection in the main sitting room from 16mbps to 2mbps and I was wondering what the best way would be to boost the connection to some of the downstairs rooms?

About 5 years ago (for a different issue) we used a booster that work by plugging into a power outlet, but that didn't seem to work too well. Unless they have gotten better since then. Many thanks.

Try changing the orientation of the antenna. Or moving it to the other side of the room.

You could use a wi-fi repeater / range extender? Don't know if this would be convenient though, because these are quite expensive.

It is a BT homehub 3, it does not have a antenna. I was thinking more if there was something I could purchase to extend the range?

How does a wi-fi repeater work also are there any you could recommend? As for price, how much would I have to spend for a decent one?

I'm not entirely sure how it works to be honest. My understanding is that it picks up the wi-fi signal from your homehub, then amplifies it somehow.

I don't know of any to recommend unfortunately, but they cost between £50 and £100 usually.

It may not be visible externally, but there is an antenna.
Move it around, maybe stand it on edge.
