EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX Power Consumption Question

I do not know a whole lot about power supplies as I do other parts of computers. I read the GTX 770 requires 42 amps on the 12 volt rail. I have an XFX Core Edition PRO650W and I do not know if it meets these requirements. If you know please let me know, and if it doesn't meet them what ones do?

  1. Where did you read that the GTX 770 requires 42A?

That aside, your PSU is sufficient to power a single GTX 770.

  4. That 42 amps is the recommendation for the entire system, not the GPU. The GTX 770 itself won't take up anywhere near that much. The rest, you'll have to figure out from your other components.
  5. The GeForce GTX 770 is a 230 Watt card. It should be drawing less than 20 Amps from the +12V rail(s) at maximum power draw.

I think NVIDIA's recommendation is 10 Amps more than is actually required.
  6. Hence, the recommendation. I always find it good to have a power supply that is more than you need just to be on the safe side.

If thats the PSU you have, it has 53amps on the 12v rail. It will work fine.
