sorry i havent tried one. as long as reviews are 4 star or above it should work though. i can really only recommend products or brands i have dealt with in the past or have heard enough good about to recommend. i cant recommend anything i dont know much about so you would be on your own there.
what i can tell you is that it has a laser sensor not an infared sensor. what this means is that if you have a tendency to lift the mouse off the mousepad at all for repositioning or if you lift the edges of the mouse while you move it then the mouse will continue to track and your cursor will go all over the place. i've used laser mice in the past and they work very well however they are not for everyone because of what i said above.
infared (optical mice) do not have this issue so are for everyone.;
i've also seen in reviews that the dpi button can be hard to click.
the software does support a shift mode where a key acts like the shift key and allows you to program different functions to the keys. sounds useful but i'm not so sure how well this would work in practice.
it definitely doesnt look like a bad mouse at all but its going to be pricey and there are definitely major competitors. what matters most is how well the mouse is going to fit your hand.
ie, do you like large or small mice better? do you like round mice like the logitech g400, angular mice like the logitech office mice or mice shaped like the deathadder? there is no one good mouse shape as we all have our preferences. you can go to just about any store and try out the g400 or deathadder and logitech office mice to see what shape is best for you.
remember about the laser vs infared comment. if you lift the mouse up
at all the mouse will drive you nutty.
rocatt kone xtd $90 on amazon.. fairly expensive even by mouse standards.
rocatt kone pure or + $65-0 on amazon
razer deathadder (old type with blue backlight) $50 on amazon $40 on ebay
this site has some very good photos but its in german. sounds about right since roccat is a german company.
photo from the site showing a size comparison with a logitech office mouse left, kone, and g400.
since the g400 is pretty common and so is the deathadder i managed to find a size comparison between those two
edit:
about the mousepad issue...
it looks to me that the mousepad you are using is standard sized. ie about the same size as regular cloth mousepads.
i've used my deathadder on a standard sized mousepad for 2 years without any issues. i only recently switched to the large mousepad you see in the picture because i had that pad at work. i do like the larger mousepad since it gives me more freedom to position my hand and arm wherever i want but you can make do with a normal mousepad as well.
this is a photo i found on the internet which looks like a normal sized mousepad.
