I have a xigmatec nrp -vc503 switching power supply 500w and I'm running a fx 6200 no oc and a xfx 6950 2gb with a slight oc .also I am wanting to upgrade because I'm planning to get 3 monitors and im not sure if the 6950 can handle bf3 at medium at that resoloution and get solid 50-60 fps.

More about : 7950 work power supply

It says 500w minimum. So "pushing it" comes to mind.

You'll need a better GPU to run 3 monitor surround at a reasonable FPS. I've had 5760x1080 Eyefinity and I wouldn't do it with anything less than HD 7950 2-way Crossfire, but that's just me.

Do you plan on overclocking your card? If you do, from my experience with my 7950, with my other hardware, it did not take kindly even to the 600-watt Antec I had in there. I ended up getting a 750-watt. You won't need that high of a wattage, but I still recommend something better than 500w. It'll give you more headroom if you decide to upgrade anything else.

7950 has a max TDP of 200W and fx6200 has a max TDP of 130W. Both the cpu and gpu will never hit their max TDPs ever in any normal scenario (unless prime burn test or something similar). Even under mid to heavy gaming load you are looking at a combined TDP of 250-280W cpu and gpu combined, assuming stock volts.

Even if the psu is supplying 80% of its rated power that still leaves plenty of headroom for the remaining components. Maybe if the OP is OCing his hardware then he might look into upgrading his psu. @ stock however he will have absolutely no need for any more power.

It would be pushing it. It might work but I would upgrade.
