Hey guys, although being an owner of a gaming PC for a number of years im still a guess a bit of 'noob' when it comes to some details. I'm currently running an Sapphire 5770 and looking to upgrade.

I have my eyes set on the Sapphire 7950 Vapor X, but was just checking if my current set up will be able to handle the 3gb card.

I have an ASRock N68C-S UCC and my processor is an AMD Athlon II X4 640.

I currently run a 500w PSU but will upgrade this to most likely 750w if i purchase the card.
Will my set up be able to handle the card?

If theres any other info you want or need to know please don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks

The 7870 is a fine card and would probably be my recommendation as I am just not sure you'll get enough benefit out of the 7950 with your current CPU. It may still bottleneck the 7870 as well, but not as much as it would the 7950 and there's no sense in paying more for performance you won't see.

Cheers for the reply, my other option is purchasing the Sapphire 7870, i'm willing to buy it despite the "blackout glitches" some users are having. Which do you think is a better option if the 7950 may be bottlenecked?

Awaiting the delivery of a new 24" monitor so will be playing on a single monitor at 1080p. I'm currently playing games such as Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, and will be wanting to play those as well as Battlefield and Bioshock and such things .

Thanks for the help, the 7870 is probably the better choice, i will mostly likely upgrade my PSU as well to give me some head room. It's people like you who make it much easier for those of us with less experience to feel comfortable in what we are purchasing! Thanks again!
