Hey guys,

So i've heard from various different sites etc that the gtx 580 doesn't work so well with 120hz monitors (causing it to be full load ALL the time while at 120hz).

I wondering how the 600 series is doing with this? (or newer) because i've only really heard it happening to the 580 which is a shame for me.

My SLI GTX 670 seem to do really good on most games but there are still some that even with SLI it struggles with. I really can't say about the GTX 5xx cards though as I have not used any of them as I have been with ATI since the 7800GS(AGP) until the GTX 670 that is. For most all games I run on my 3 Asus 27" monitors which are 60Hz so I run at 60fps Vsync'ed anyway.

I have to say once i went to a 120 Hz monitor i will never go back to 60 Hz. Because everything is smoother and you will even notice it on the desktop once you change refresh from 60 to 120. Night and day.I don't think a single GTX 580 is going to cut it for such a monitor though.

120 Hz not FPS ..

Well, General rule of computers : Great Performance Comes With Great Price :)

If you can afford it, its the way to go.

@bigcyco - Do you notice performance issues in gaming? like FPS drops which you didn't had with 60 Hz?

thanks for some answers, its just that my temps are really high tbh, 60c on desktop etc, but i think this comes from my very poor airflow in my case (virturally non existant) with all my wires and it being very cramped. i guess I should change it up soon before its too late

I will most likely just change my case to a more suitable one (mine is mid-tower), and one which can provide some very nice airflow. not really thought about liquid cooling because i do not know much about it

Yeah a full tower with a good cooler would do the job :)
Basically in liquid cooling it is water conducting and transmitting heat instead of air.

Since water has higher heat taking capacity it cools a computer much better than air cooled systems.

if you are still active luckiest charm, is liquid cooling hard to go about? i mean i've only really built up a pc once fully (this one), not sure how challenging it is to do, or perhaps a guide of some sort.

really do appreciate the help btw :)

didn't realise there was this sort of 'premade' liquid cooling like the h80i you posted. are you suggesting to just use the h80i alone, or to use it with other liquid cooling things aswell?

sorry again I am a total noob at this :)

hey again, SORRY i know this is solved, however interesting note - out of coincidence i changed my GPU's pci slot, and voila magically it can now fully idle at 120hz, 405 gpu clock - 324 mem clock. if anyone else had the problem of full load all the time this is totally worth a shot.
