Been looking at building a pc for some while now but never really knew how to.. From what I have seen I'm gonna have a crack at it..

Case:
CM Storm trooper (Atx full tower)

Motherboard:
Asrock Z77 Extreme4 @ $135

CPU
Intel i5-3570K @ $250

CPU Cooling:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo @ $35

Memory:
Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600Mhz - Racing Red @ $90

PSU:
Corsair HX850 v2 850 Watt 80 PLUS Gold @ $220

Graphics:
Gigabyte HD 7970 3Gb Ghz Edition @ $470

Optical Drive:
Pioneer DVD/CD Burner @ $31

Hard drive:
2TB Seagate Barracuda @ $90

SSD:
120Gb Sandisk Pro @ $120

I already have the case, motherboard, hard drive, SSD and CPU cooling..

I was just curious to see if the other items were any good or if there is other preferences for the prices.
Help is appreciated. :)

The corsair vengeance modules come in CL8 and CL9 flavours - check which you are looking at before hitting the add-to-basket button.

For the same money as the Pioneer burner you can get a combo BDreader/DVD/CDburner with PowerDVD(BDedition) bundled - the LiteOn IHOS104

CPU : If you are into overclocking, go for i5 2500k. If you want to stay with stock go for this one. Both have as less as 5% difference but i5 2500k overclocks much higher. I am considering this because you have the cooler.

Graphics - Go for GTX 770. Its cheaper and is better. HD 7970 is known to be noisy and irritates. Also its performance isn't as good these days .. GTX 770 is overclocked GTX 680. Much recommended.

Rest is all good! :)

@Flying - This is the only one I could find -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Liteon-IHOS104-37-Internal-Blu-ray-Software/dp/B002BAT1GQ

It retails for 48 Pounds .... Please post the link of your BD reader .. I also might consider buying it, it sounds to be a good product.

Nice choices EXCEPT for the PSU and GPU.
The Gigabyte cards are voltage locked, so they will not overclock so well. Also you can rather save some and get this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008

The TX 650 V2 is MOOOREE than enough unless you plan on getting dual GPUs. This : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020

With the saved cash you can get a MUCH better SSD. That Sandisc is crappy. This : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147192

This is the one I bought recently - LINK

Update: the item they sent me is a BD reader and DVD/CD writer. The item now listed on the website above is a pure reader. I cant explain how this happened.

I hv no idea how overclocking works but I was gonna tinker with it to see how I go..
I got the 850w PSU for the future upgrade to crossfire/ sli whichever gpu people recommend.. I was thinking that I may end up using at least 2 monitors and I have read that the 7970s were good for multi monitors but I'm still open to opinions.. I'm planning on in the next week or two to get these parts and then buy the gpu at the end ..
That's why I got the asrock extreme 4 because it was able to support both and I was just a fan of its features.

As for the optical drive.. Ill have to look into it.. That one you mentioned sounds
Much better then a stock DVD/cd burner :)

Thanks!

If you want multiple graphics card in the future, get the GTX770 instead, Nvidia SLI is just sooo much better.
But if you want a nice overclocker(thing to play with LOL) taht will perform better when OCd, get the HD7970. It has more VRAM so will do better at triple monitor than the GTX770, but on 2 monitors, it makes no dif.

Still you can get a better SSD by dropping the rediculously expensive Gigabyte

Yeah I was thinking the 770 or the 7970 but couldn't decide lol..
And I will most likely change the SSD.. Was planning on just installing OS on it but may get the crucial m500 256gb which I've heard is pretty good for games, os and other program's I wish to install there..

120/128GB is enough but not ideal.
The Samsung 840 Pro is one of the best SSDs available. You shoudl consider it STRONGLY.
