I was looking on the internet to buy some parts when I go back to china to get all the components i need,

i soon saw that buying an ASUS GTX680-DC2O-2GD5 2G 256bit GDDR5 (http://www.newegg.com.cn/Product/A19-050-2ZF.htm) costed 4488 yuan while in the american version (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) it costed $300 more NZD why is that

so should i buy my parts in china or america

Unless I'm using the wrong exchange rate, 4488 Yuan is well over US$700. Thus, the Chinese price is drastically higher.

I don't know about the mainland, but in Hong Kong SAR, the prices after currency conversion are equal or slightly cheaper than American prices - but often come without game bundles:

http://www.cap.com.hk/index.php?include=pricelist

I buy regularly from there.

Also here in Australia, prices are roughly at parity with US prices - once you factor in possibly paying tax in America, the prices are roughly the same or sometimes cheaper in Australia.

It's not about the country*. It's about knowing where to shop.

*assumes developed country/nation state; in undeveloped places, a premium can be charged for these "luxury goods" because they are so low volume there - low income = low sales = needing higher margins to compensate for operating costs.

I wouldn't agree about country not effecting things. There are some countries which have prices on par with those of the US, but many others do not. Having had to try to design a build on a budget for a man in South Africa, I can definitely attest that some countries have ludicrously higher parts prices.

Edit: However, for major economies, you may well be correct. I was just pointing out that some regions pay quite severe markups.

I think the prices would be less as manfacturer prices are well below USA in China

Many US goods are made in China, and nigh-all computer parts are. The only difference they would have is the lack of shipping costs. That said, they may well have more limited access/higher prices due to the perception that a large market does not exist, and thus that such parts are purely a luxury. That may sound unrealistic, but I can attest from the first-hand experience of loading Taiwanese-made goods onto a shipping container bound back to Taiwan that it does happen.

Edit for clarity's sake: I loaded the goods due to working part-time for an export business which specializes in selling Taiwanese-made products to Taiwanese people. Via the US.
