Hi,
This is all about Ivy Bridge processors.
Some people say that it is ok to use RAM @ 1.65V. Others say that it could damage the cpu. Could anyone explain to me why would it be dangerous of using RAM @1.65V ? I'm interested in a tehnical answer.
Thank you.

Solution
The integrated memory controller on Ivy Bridge CPUs wasn't designed to work with higher voltages. 1.5V and below to be safe. Going any higher can cause damage or reduce the life of the CPU.

Solution
Because the memory controller within the CPU is not rated for voltages above 1.5v (as far as we know - intel hasn't published an official stance on RAM voltage for sandy / ivy.)

That being said, I would be hesitant to go above 1.6v at the maximum, but you might prefer a higher voltage. Just don't go past 1.65 or you really will damage your CPU, nearly guaranteed.
