Hi there,

So my planned System is:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: Asus H87-PRO ATX LGA1150
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5"
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB Windforce
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DGX
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520FL 80 PLUS Platinum
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95
Partpickerlink

Dont worry too much about the exact prices, just want to talk about the components themselves (if some stuff wouldn't work out together).

I'm especially unsure if I'll be fine with the PSU:
I like the fanless design but it is only available up to 520, however Nvidia recommends at least 600w for the GTX770. I'm not going to go for SLI/Crossfire or OC, but I will add at least one more storage device.

Any advices, whether I'm good to go with that PSU or not would be greatly appreciated :)

You are FINE with the PSU.
Everything else looks good, but rather get the Samsung 840 PRO. The price dif is small and the 840(normal) is not worth its price.

At my retailer 840 120GB is 81€ while 840 Pro 128GB is 115€ that is nearly 50% difference... Isn't it so, that the main difference of the Pro series is at writing, so for gaming its not that significant?

(Yes actually I'm from Europe, i just chose partpicker because you guys seem to like it for overviews)

WOW that is a MASSIVE difference. Geez. Crazy Europeans! LOL

Then you should get the 830 is its even cheaper, the 840 is BARELY better.

To my understanding (warning: SSDs are outside my expertise, so I go with forum consensus), the Pro SSDs are higher quality and more consistent/reliable, which is the main reason to pay more. That said, I'm a bit out of the loop on SSDs (they are, as you said, not a major thing for gaming) so take that with a grain of salt.

Also, you are very, very right about Part Picker. You probably increased the odds of getting a quick response 150% just by doing that.

It's not that significant for gaming.

As for your build : getting a silenced case with decent cooling option costs less than investing in a fully-silent rig.

Unfortunately it isn't. 830 is out of stock about everywhere, and those few stores that still have it, charge you more than for the 840...

Yes I know its troublesome trying to help people with different market situations (heck I would kill somebody to see some microcenter here). But since my main-question was about the PSU, I valued the higher number of people I reach more than some local store/price differences.

Isn't Fractal Define R4 about the best silenced case? I am well aware its impossible to make a complete silenced Rig with High-End-GPU, but I though the less noise I produce inside the case, the better, since a case can only cancel out so much noise (for instance HDD rotations seems to be impossible to cancel out with silenced cases)

Honestly, I wouldn't favor that particular PSU. I would tend to go with a Bronze/Silver 620-650w SeaSonic or XFX, which should be drastically cheaper (although that may not be the case, in your country). Gold and Platinum tend to add a lot of cost for a relatively low amount of benefit.

The R4 is a very good, very quiet case, though there do exist quieter options. However, it balances quiet, cooling, and cost very effectively.

Edit: I now see that you were looking at that PSU due to it being fan-less. I wouldn't be surprised if it was enough, but I personally hate being anywhere near the power requirements for my parts, so I would tend to advise looking for the quietest higher-wattage PSU you could find, rather than using that one.

Yeah I can understand, that working close to the limit of a PSU has a lot of drawbacks, but as I tend to skip minor upgrades and always build complete systems, so I don't have single parts leftover, but complete running systems. Therefore I don't plan on upgrading to a Radeon 9870 or FX-9000. As long as I can include another SSD or Harddrive and happy.
The other isssue with working 80+ % of your PSUs power, is the efficiency, but isnt platinum certificate pointing right at that sector and telling me "this PSU still works great there"?

I'd be more comfortable using a Platinum-certified PSU for that sort of thing than a Bronze one, but it would still concern me. That said, this is an area of computers in which I am unapologetically paranoid, so I'm not the most unbiased person to talk to.
