I am working on an upgrade and have almost everything I need. My 3 questions are :
1. recommended power supply size
2. recommended cpu fan
3. opinions on ram
a. Patriot Intel Extreme Masters Viper 3 Series DDR3 16GB http://

or

b. Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHz http://

My components so far:
Asus P8Z77V (new)
Intel i5-3570K (new)
Samsung 128gb SSD 840 series Sata III ( for Win7 Pro64bit) (new)
WD Caviar 500 gb HDD (in use D: for data)
WD Caviar 160 gb HDD (in use C: Win XP and programs)
WD Caviar 160 gb HDD (in use Hackintosh Snow Leopard-optional)
LG Super Multi DVD writer (in use)

Replacing an Intel DG35ec board with Core2duo E8400 in full size ATX case. will transfer to another case when done.

1) Great, so your card isnt a huge power hog, you should only need 450W or so for your whole system, but im going to recommend 550w instead so that when you decide to upgrad that GTX 220 to a more recent card you have plenty of power. Corsair and Seasonic are the best choices, so take a look at these two options:

1) You did not include a graphics card. The graphics card is the biggest power hog in the system, so we have to know that to suggest PSU wattage.

2) What kind of budget do you have for the CPU Heatsink? I would suggest the Coolermaster HyperN 212 Evo for a lower budget ($35 or so) or the Noctua NH-D14 for a higher budget ($91 or so) or a Corsair H100i ($110) for a higher budget if you want to go liquid cooling with quiet operation.

3) Both of those are decent memory modules, but I personally like Corsair over Patriot, so I would say the Corsair Vengeance.

Additionally, make sure you get the Samsung 840 PRO...the pro series is where you get the best performance for the SSDs.

Sorry, dalmvern:
1:I have a BFG GForce 220 1GB card.
2:I was looking at the Coolermaster 212 EVO as a probability. Pretty sure there will be room with only 2 ram sticks
3: I am leaning toward the Corsair but going to look for blue

Onus, thanks for the tip, will check it out.

I like the Seasonic since it is both modular and Gold certified, but if you want a blue color scheme that Corsair is perfect.

2) Good choice, there is plenty of room for the memory im suggesting below, so 212 Evo it is.

3) If you are looking for some good memory with a blue color scheme, G.Skill has the Ripjaws X series in blue and their Ares series in blue, both quality memory.

If you don't plan on any graphics card upgrades (or nothing that needs a PCIe power connector), then the 300W Seasonic is all you need; your rig will rarely pull over 100W from the wall.
Go here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp for a reasonable PSU sizing calculator. If you're thinking of buying a gaming graphics card, you can use it to figure what size PSU you'll eventually need. Most people significantly overestimate the wattage they need.
