My friend was originally selling me an evga gtx 580 for 200 bucks, in perfect working order and good shape, he now wants to sell me the gtx 580, an I7 960 3.2ghz without heatsink and an msi x58 motherboard (unsure of exact model)or 400 bucks even, all of which work perfect and all are used, is it a great deal should i get it for my gaming rig im on a budget and any heatsink fan recommendations?

I think you could do better buying new more updated stuff. That's a 4 year old processor that is a heat/power monster compared to a newer i5 or AMD chip.

$180 7850 AMD card will get you newer technology, about half the power draw and the same price as that geforce with zero wear and tear on it, and close to the same FPS.

Agree with previous poster. I would opt for new parts for described reasons.

Beyond that, at $400 its a poor deal. Maybe $250-300 for those 3 items in used, working condition.

580 is not bad for this price at all.

However, 200 for old Intel chip and motherboard is not worth it. For same price you can get FX 6-core chip and quality motherboard to go with it.

For 200 you can get Phenom II quad (80-90), motherboard(50-100) and 8 gig memory(50).

Power draw is not a factor, unless you worry about your old PSU which would be under stress. And why would you even mention power draw, when it plays very small factor for gaming computers? HTPC is the only thing that I can relate to power consumption when running it 24/7 with some DLNA software on to serve media files.
