Hello there and good day. I have a EVGA gtx660 ti 2GB card Super Clocked. For the first maybe month or so the card worked well (still does) however my problem is the horrible driver crashes I keep getting. The drivers crash horribly when im playing my 3d games and ultimately causes a black screen to appear. Before this Nvidia card I had an AMD card that a bad PSU made go bad.

Im very disappointed with with the performance of the drivers (the card is kick ass) so I will be reverting to AMD again as I had zero problems with them last time. So there is always the battle of which card is best going on but which of these 2 should I get Radeon 7950 or 7970?

Bf3, LoL, DMC, and I plan to get BF4 and a few other new titles. I have a 1680*1050 screen (works fine for me) and I wanna be able to play at max settings for any game I wish to play up until newer titles come out that require more power. At the moment I have $300 and I could probably get a bit more.

So what do you guys suggest?

I suggest you to delete all your drivers, manually delete em' all. Then do a fresh install.

I had similar problems yesterday with my GTX 670, software failures are a common issue and simply reinstalling them often solves problems like this.

If you have overclocked your GPU, then you should try to use the GPU with default settings, the overclock can provide crashes.

strange NVIDIA drivers are alot better than AMDs to behonest at least from getting the best bang for your buck. The problem is NVIDIA dont automatically do a clean install when it updates. Install the latest drivers with a clean install and you should be fine. (You using standard clocks for your SC card? (if not revert them OC causes some driver issues)

I have done that already...removed all the drivers ALL used a program to sniff out any left over software and dleted it all. Reinstalled new and its causing crashes still. I do not over clock my graphics card. Kept crashing no matter what I did.

As I said to the other guy I dont O.C, dont see the need to. I did do the clean install. I still get the ridiculous crashes and its very very very very very annoying. I was hoping that these new updated drivers would help solve the issue but it keeps happening no matter what. The card works REALLY well when the drivers dont crash. I love it to be honest...but the driver crashes make the experience all but disappointing.

Could it be possible I may need to do a chipset update or bios update or something for my motherboard or anything of the sorts? I would honestly like to keep this card and save some money in my pocket if doing an update on my bios and chipset would gaurantee stable performance.

Weird you could try some of the old drivers (http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Find.aspx) If they dont work (but have previously) their must be another problem. Can you post your GPU temps please?

That depends on how new your MB is but if it supports 3.0 PCi E their shouldn't be any issue with bios.

I have an Asus P8P67 Mobo

BIOS updates are really risky and sould only be done, if you're really in poop to your knees (sorry for the childish expression). ;)

Try the GPU in a different system, and see if it works, just to leave any doubts out. Also, as mentioned before, an old driver sometimes work.

Or just RMA the card, mate.

EVGA provides solid warranty, so you should easily have a chance of getting a new card. You could even RMA the GPU and pay a little extra to get a GTX 770 or GTX 780. I would certainly aim for that!

Thats fine :) and with your old PSU going bad a presume you got a good one this time what is it? In addition I was just wondering have you altered any setting in the NVidia control panel if so restore to default settings.

I do not live in America, i bought the card from someone in my country who had used it for 1 week and put it back in the box cause his gf bought him a 7970. He didnt have any problems with it when he used it. He used Windows 8 and im on 7. I do not think that should cause any serious differences though. I have tried older drivers as well....same thing has been happening...i have tried from 306.XX all the way to 320.18 and even beta drivers :(

I have made no changes to the nvidia control panel that would hamper game performance...only thing changed is prefered max performance and single gpu mode. I have Antec EARTH Psu now...that green one.

I'm sorry to hear.

Still, most shops provide a warranty, where I live it's the law that every store/seller provides at least 2 years of warranty (not sure where you live, but it is pretty common in the western world). Didn't you ask for the warranty when you bought the GPU? If not, then try to contact the seller and see if he still has it. You just might get lucky. If he doesn't have it, then you should at least crave some of your money back. :)

You could also try putting the card in the other PCI E slot and see if that solves any issues
