Hello, I wan't to ask everyone who have the same ASUS P8Z77-M motherboard.
Or the similar to this one. I got some sound problems with playing movies and with Asus sound software menu. It detects only two speakers.
I have 5.1 Logitech speakers and I have tried to replace plugs in different places.. red, green, blue.. Nothing changed. The asus audio software detects only two speakers it doesn't matter if it's rear, front , center or subwoofer ... but it plays only two speakers in sound test...
And the most interesting thing that all speakers makes the sound when I playing the music. But in vlc player sound goes wrong when I play movies.. I can hear only the soundtrack... And it plays well when I set to 2,0 in Asus software.. Maybe this MB doesn't support 5.1?
Souncard: Realtek® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC *4
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking.
What does it mean 8 channel hd... ?

The P8Z77-M motherboard manual states:
* Use a chassis with HD audio module in the front panel to support an 8-channel audio output

The motherboard itself doesn't have enough audio ports built into it to support 8-channel audio output. If your computer case has built-in HD audio ports on its front panel then you should be able to connect its audio connector to the motherboard to get the desired 8 audio channels.

You also need to install the Realtek Audio Drivers to get proper jack-detection.
