As the title states, I'm trying to overclock my sandy bridge e i7 3820 on a gigabyte x79-up4 motherboard. The CPU easily hits 4.3 using just the multiplier, but when I try and change the bclk to 1.25, my motherboard just gets stuck rebooting until it boots with default settings. It does this even when the frequency is set to just 4.0 GHz. I have ruled out the memory as it will boot and run stable with a speed of 1866, and when I change my bclk I leave it at 1666. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Did I just get a bad motherboard?

The 3820 has a semi unlocked multiplier, so I can change it up to 43, which is how I reached 4.3 GHz with the base 100mhz bclk. The issue is when I change my bclk ratio to the standard 1.25 most people use to overclock this particular CPU. Even with it set to bclk 1.25 and multiplier 32 for a clock rate of 4.0 GHz, my computer will continuously restart until the motherboard resets the settings to default.

I have tried raising VCore to 1.4.
And it is just strange because *most* if not all owners of the 3820 recommend raising the bclk to overclock this particular chip. It runs extremely cool as I have a corsair h100 on it, and it seems as if I should be able to get at least a little more performance out of it. I think the issue may be with the motherboard as the CPU runs at 4.3 with 100 and wont even boot at 4.0 with 125.
