Trying to figure out what CPU will fit my case cm haf 922 with corsair vengeance ram. also what is the best paste out nowadays

As long as your cpu has an am3 or am3+ socket it will fit that motherboard. Same goes for any cooling system, look for that socket size. as for thermal paste anything would really be ok, take your pick between IC-Diamond 7, Arctic MX-4, Arctic Silver 5. Nothing new and better has come out recently.

are u looking for a cpu like a fx or phenom II series cpu or a cooler? u asked about paste, but asked if it would fit in the case? lol all cpus as long as the board u get will fit the case will fit the case, its the aftermarket coolers u must worry about

Sorry i should of been more clear.. it is help choosing a aftermarket cooler. the ram is gonna be my biggest prob.. need a cooler that can clear them.. all 4 slots are filled, and my ram is pretty high

If you are worried about room, a corsair hydro series cooler would be good, it has a baseplate that attaches to the cpu and runs hoses to a radiator mounted in a fan slot. Its also a liquid cooler so it would keep your rig cooler than any heatsink for the same price range.

there seems to be quite abit of space from the cpu socket and the heatsink and ram slots so i think a dual fan heatsink the a cm hyper 212 evo would fit or a zalman 9900, xigmatek dark knight II etc, not to sure on ones like the noctua nh d14 or phanteks, but best way to do it as u have the board is measure the distance from the edge of the socket to the heatsinks and ram and then find a cooler u like and see how wide it is and if its bigger than the gap see how much clearance the heatsink has from whattever its blocking
