I work for a smallish company, and we are doing some upgrades to our network. that includes moving our current patch panel and adding drops, so i need more panel space how much is reasonable to spend on a patch panel....

depends how big and who is installing. If you are going to do the labor the patch panel itself is about $1.50-$2.00/port The more ports the cheaper per port. This assumes the punch down type. There are cheaper ones that are just rj45 couplers mounted in a metal bracket. These work too but it tends to be more labor to terminate all the cables to rj45 rather than just punch them in.

I am having excellent results with using the smaller TrendNET panels, I have a 16 port at home, and a 24 port I set up for a friends office...

The Intellinet unit appears to be identical to the TrendNET and might be worth a look...

From there out the price goes WAY up, or quality seems to go WAY down...

So yeah, figure $1.50 to $2.00 a port...

If I had a project that needed 48 port panels, I would probably go with the TrendNET just because I am familiar with their panels...
