Hi new to the site stumbled upon it through google, so far I like the forums seems pretty helpful so figured I would throw my build into the mix to see what help I can get.

I am trying to go for my first gaming build here is what I have and any recommendations would be good trying to stick to $1k range maybe a little over. Oh and I wasn't sure on the GPU couldnt decide really.

Depends on your uses for the computer and what games you play. If the games you play aren't that graphics intensive then it is overkill but there are plenty of people in this forum that would buy it.

If you wanted the newest gen cpu, haswell is out now, but you wont see much of a difference in performance probably just power saving if your into that. The gpu is solid since your using it for gaming GPU is quite important personally im a Nvidia guy a 680 right now is pretty cheap ~425 $ range (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=71118&vpn=GTX680-DC2O-2GD5&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1396) and Id maybe look at a 750 W PSU since higher range gpus can eat up some power

You will also need to change motherboards from a Z77/LGA1155 to a Z87/LGA1150, hear there is not much difference if performance but it sure would not hurt to get the latest
