Ideas for a new Rig

Hey Guys!

What would you suggest for biggest bang for my buck for around £2000?

I have a brand new HD7970 in my current rig so I'll most likely stick with that and maybe CrossFire it.

I'd like two or three 1080p monitors (no larger than 24") More interested in multitasking than Eyefinity

I don't really see the need for an SSD my current 1TB HDD running Windows 8 seems more than adequate

I'd like Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

Will be playing both Graphically demanding and CPU demanding games (Crysis and MMOs)

I'll most likely try my hand at OCing the CPU

I am open to any suggestions really, I don't really know enough to pick everything myself and I bought my current rig from pcspecialist and I now know, had I built it myself I'd have got a better system.

Most importantly, is it worth it to upgrade right now? Or is my current rig fine? (Rig in signiture, CPU actually at 4.4)

Thanks,
Conor

There is absolutely no need to upgrade your computer yet. If you REALLY wanted to, you could go to an ivy bridge extreme chip with a second 7970, but you could also just get a second 7970. You should be thankful, though - whoever helped you at specialize actually did a decent job at building a good computer, instead of giving you the parts that gave them the most profit. That being said, don't discount the SSD - it makes a large, noticeable, and very pleasant difference.

Processor: Your I5 is just fine, though, hyper-threading (found in i7s) is responsible for multitasking performance. I'll leave that up to you to decide but the new intel haswell chips just came out so older models will be a little cheaper soon.

GPU: For the gaming aspect, one 7970 at 5760x1080 (3 monitors) 4xAA, ultra quality on crysis 2 you'll get like 18fps...which is pretty crappy so I'd suggest another card. 7970 draws about 251 watts so presumably 2 would draw around 500-550 watts that doesn't leave much head room in terms of power.

Psu: As stated above the there's not much head room in terms of power and amd gpus like their wattage. I would suggest getting a larger psu like 800-850 watts, that should be plenty. Also I would make sure it is modular, it will save you tons of wiring and future proofing. Also get like an 80 silver or gold rating it helps with the power efficiency and save you a little of money and heat.

Mobo: Your mobo is fine for now...but with all electronics you can get more expensive ones. If you do decide to upgrade the mobo just look for the features you want like Bluetooth, wifi, usb 3.0, SATA, or firewire. Also make sure it is recommended for amd crossfire for compatibility's sake. Also a lot of mobo offer out of the box overclocking so if that sound like something you want to do, check to make sure the mobo can handle it.

SSD: TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SSD AND A HDD. Also with windows 8 quick boot you'll blink and the computer is on.

Ram: The clock speed on your ram is a little low at 1333mhz. 8 gigs of ram is moderately good. I suggest 1600mhz clock speed. If you are planning on overclocking you could go even higher on the clock speed but make sure its compatible with your mobo

Cooling: If you want a quieter system i would suggest getting water cooling on your processor. Corsair makes a good line of preassembled kits like the corsair H100i would be good for gaming and overclocking. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181032
